WATER SUPPLY: Following a shortfall in the Sukkur barrage, water supply has been affected in Nara canal, leading to a shortage of water in its command area, particularly at the tail ends.

Hundreds of channels were closed after the water level dropped in the Nara canal, from 16,500 cusecs to 13,000 cusecs.

As a result of this, the standing crops including cotton, chili, onion, sugarcane and vegetables would be adversely affected.

The growers, Haji Abdul Ghafoor Mahar, Imtiaz Panwhar, Zubair Ahmed and others, expressed their grave concern over the closure of the channels, terming it artificial.
