KARACHI, Aug 30: Two minors facing murder charges were on Friday brought to the city courts from the Remand Home handcuffed for producing them before an additional sessions judge.

Mohammad Farooque, 10, and Barkat Ali alias Nomi, 8, have been nominated in an FIR lodged at the Korangi police station under section 302/34 PPC.

They were brought from the Remand Home Nazimabad but could not be produced in the court due to election process. The next date of hearing is Sept 12.

Advocate Dhani Bux Otho has filed an application praying the court that minors are behind the bars since Aug 5 and this has been resulting in physical and mental loss to the children which was sheer abuse of human rights.

Since the 1st ADJ East, who is juvenile court, is busy due to election assignments, the application was filed before the district judge, East. The matter will now be heard on Sept 2.

According to the parents of the children, the police had picked five to six boys, and of them two were implicated in false cases as they could not pay illegal gratification to the police.—PPI
