KARACHI, Aug 30: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of the Sindh police has trained volunteers having expertise to identifying tempered engine and chassis numbers of vehicles.

Sindh police chief Syed Kamal Shah was informed of this by SSP ACLC Abdul Razzak Cheema, during his visit to the new SSP ACLC office here on Friday.

He said that a team comprising police personnel and trained/expert volunteers was sent for the very purpose to Shikarpur and Larkana recently.

The team successfully identified and recovered 36 vehicles in just three days.

The IGP appreciated the ACLC’s performance and asked them to expand their network by imparting training to other volunteers.

He announced cash prizes for the trained volunteers in recognition to their work.

The SSP ACLC, introducing Ahsan Rauf, said that during a recent campaign against vehicles having fake registration number plates, Ahsan had discovered 28 such cases in two months only. He said that Ahsan was such a good expert that he could identify number plates with naked eye.

The IGP, appreciating Ahsan’s performance, announced a cash reward of Rs10,000 for him, and also ordered his promotion.

Syed Kamal Shah announced that monthly rewards would be given to police personnel working in the ACLC, keeping in view their performance.

The IGP expressed satisfaction with the ACLC’s performance and advised the ACLC to keep changing its modus operandi for effectively checking car lifting/snatching.

The CPLC chief, on the occasion, said that joint efforts by the ACLC and the CPLC had helped lower the car theft/snatching incidence.

The IGP also lauded the efforts of the CPLC which has provided logistic support for the construction of the new office of the SSP ACLC.—APP
