LAHORE, Aug 29: Aisamul Haq Qureshi retained his Israeli partner Amir Hadad in the US Open Grand Slam tennis championship successfully beating the Argentinean pair of Mariano Hood and Sebastian Pricto in the first round, according to a message received Thursday.

Aisam and partner Hadad imposed a stunning straight set defeat over the Argentineans 6-4, 6-2.

This is Aisam’s first appearance in the U.S Open main draw. Previously, he has played twice at U.S Open Junior.

Aisam who made headlines by selecting Hadad as partner in the Wimbledon Championship in June in London upheld his decision for the U.S Open despite criticism from certain quarters. However, the Pakistan Tennis Federation had already declared it a as Aisam’s personal decision and refrained from from taking any hard decision against him.

Aisam and partner have been given a main draw wild card by the United States Tennis Association in this championship as a recognition of their outstanding performance at Wimbledon championship in June this year.
