KARACHI: Loadshedding begins

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 29: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation resorted to loadshedding on Thursday night.

A spokesman for the KESC said the power utility had started loadshedding at 8.15pm which would continue till 11.15pm on a rotation basis. “Because of a problem at the Jamshoro transformer, the Water and Power Development Authority has restricted the KESC’s supply to 200 megawatts, creating a shortfall of 174 megawatts.”

Meanwhile, power breakdowns continued to occur in a large number of localities in the city.

Calling from Federal B Area, Block 14, a resident said that power supply to his locality had been in a shambles since the rains. “Intermittent power breakdowns have plagued the lives of the people living in this locality,” he said.

A resident calling from Bangalore Town said that his area had also suffered many power breakdowns on Thursday.

Calling from Old Golimar, Qadimi Mohallah, Nawaz Ali said that his locality had faced prolonged and intermittent power breakdowns for a very long time.
