ISLAMABAD, Aug 28: Pakistan Muslim League (N) on Wednesday alleged that the military government has set up a cell in the GHQ to manipulate the election results.
The computer-aided cell has been constituted to ensure success of pro-government candidates in the elections, party’s central information secretary, Siddiqul Farooq told Dawn by phone.
He said in the first stage the government agencies tried to formulate alliances of pro-government parties and forced them for make seat-to-seat adjustments on the basis of data available with this cell.
The establishment of a cell for the purpose of rigging or manipulating results had caused a serious alarm among the political leaders, he added.
He also feared that some active members of the party might be picked up by the government agencies before elections.
He called upon the government to avoid taking such illegal steps which are bound to prove detrimental for national interest.
About seat-to-seat adjustment with other political parties, he said PML (N) was in the process through its district organizations.
