Aamir extends Khurram

KARACHI, Aug 27: Pakistan number one Khurram Hussain Agha was taken to full distance by talented Aamir Sikander before registering an exciting 4-3 victory on the second day of 7th Karachi Club (KC) Open Snooker Tournament at KC Billiards Hall Tuesday.

Khurram, who is yet to win a major title this year, started well by taking 3-1 lead due to brilliant breaks of 66 in third and 55 in the fourth frame.

However unfancied Aamir pulled the next two frames to setup an exciting finish. Khurram without showing any sign of pressure clinched the decider to emerge 62-39, 22-96, 86-07, 76-49, 63-71, 52-59 and 89-07 winner.

Imran Shahzad, who went down against Qasim Kamani, a day ago looked in good nick to defeat Ahmed Salim in four straight frame including a break of 48 in the final frame.

Saleh Muhammad looked in fine touch as he routed Asim Ghani 4-0 with a break of 55 in the last frame.

Up and coming Qasim, who caused a stir by defeating the other day, took a frame from veteran cueist Muhammad Yousuf before going 4-1 down. Ex-World and Asian champion Yousuf showed his class with a break of 84 in the opening g frame.

Eight KC qualifiers and eight top ranked players are taking part in the tournament which is expected to provide them build-up for next month’s eight-nation event in Dubai.
