Six of a family die as roof caves in

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, Aug 27: A family of six people, including four minor boys, were killed when the roof of their muddy house cave in due to heavy rains in the Miangan Cham at Chota Lahor here on Monday.

The head of the family, Roshan Khan, was a poor farmer. The other deceased were identified as Maroffa, wife of Roshan Khan, their four sons Rozam Khan (9), Niqash (8), Asif (5) and eight-year-old Danish.

They heavy downpour, which started in the small hours of Monday and continued for five hours and lashed Swabi and its suburbs, caused power breakdown and disrupted the telephone system.

The neighbours of the family said that the deceased used to sleep in the lawn of their house, but it seemed that when the downpour started they moved into their muddy room and the roof of the room cave in when they were sleeping.

They said that they wanted to inform the local administration but the telephone system was out of order, so they recovered the bodies from the debris of the house. They said that an eight-year-old boy of the family was lying in the lap of his mother when they uncovered the bodies.
