KARACHI, Aug 27: The Edhi Foundation is making arrangements for bringing a a seriously ill young man back to Pakistan from India at the request of the young man’s mother.
A spokesman for the Foundation said on Tuesday Sughra Begum appealed to the Foundation to make arrangements for bringing her son back from India. She said her son Bashir, alias Imran, went to India, by Samjhota Express train, to visit with his maternal relations when he was only 16 years of age. He was picked up by the Indian police and while in custody in Chittor Garh, Rajasthan, his condition deteriorated. He was admitted to a general hospital in Chittor Garh where doctors have lost all hopes for his life. Sughra Begum said she wished to see her son, but since she is a poor woman, she cannot afford the expenses to bring him back to Pakistan.
The Foundation had requested the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to issue visa to three Edhi volunteers and allow the Foundation to take an Edhi ambulance to India.
