Conversion of ADBP opposed

By Our Correspondent

MINGORA, Aug 26: Employees of the Agriculture Development Bank have expressed concern over the proposed conversion of the ADBP into a corporation and termed the decision against the interests of the bank and its employees.

A statement issued by the ADBP employees union on Sunday said that 75 per cent of the country’s population depended on agriculture and the bank was encouraging them. The bank, it added, provided billions in loans to the farmers community and helped introduce new machineries and equipment for farming. The wheat produce increased manifold due to the hardwork of farmers and cooperation of the bank, it said.

The deputy general secretary of the ADBP staff union, CBA, opposed the conversion plan and suggested that instead employees’ problems should be resolved to improve the bank’s performance.

He criticized the police action against the employees of the bank during a demonstration of the bank employees.
