KARACHI, Aug 25: A young man was shot dead and another injured when two assailants sprayed them with bullets near Shahrah-i-Liaquat on Sunday.

The dead man was identified as Ayub Brohi, aged 35, and the injured as Zahid Husain Magsi, aged 25, both residents of a shanty town behind Moti Mahal in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

On Sunday, Ghani Magsi and Ali Sher, who harboured enmity against Zahid, came to Zahid’s house and offered settlement at the Mazar of Abdullah Shah Ghazi. Zahid and Ayub agreed to the proposal and they accompanied Ghani and Ali Sher in their Suzuki Mehran (AAS-089) car.

DSP Preedy Ajaz Hashmi said that as they came to a quiet street near Burnes Road another vehicle approached them. Ghani Magsi took out a firearm and sprayed Ayub and Zahid with bullets who were sitting in the rear seat of his car.

He drove the vehicle to the Mashriq Press street behind Sindh Secretariat and escaped in the other vehicle.

The DSP said that when they came to the spot, Ayub had died and Zahid was found injured. Zahid was admitted to Civil Hospital.

Police said that about eight years back suspect Ghani Magsi had killed Zahid’s uncle because of enmity.

Police said that Ayub, father of six, had arrived in the city from Qamber, a small town near Larkana, on Saturday.

A labourer was shot dead in Manghopir in the morning.

Police said that unidentified men called out Riasat Ali, aged 27, from his house in Manghopir. As he stepped out of the house, two motorcyclists opened fire on him and escaped. Riasat was injured. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

CARJACKING: Thirty-four vehicles — seven cars and 27 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city in the past 48 hours, police said.

Four cars and eight motorcycles were either hijacked or stolen on Sunday.

One car was hijacked. Three others were stolen.

Two motorcycles were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered two motorcycles in the city.

Three cars and 19 motorcycles were either hijacked or stolen on Saturday.

One car was hijacked. Two others were stolen.

Nine motorcycles were hijacked. Ten others were stolen.

FOUND MURDERED: The body of a seven-year-old girl, stuffed into a gunny bag, was recovered in Sachal area on late Saturday night.

Police said that body was chopped into seven pieces. Rahima Bibi’s father, Sakhi Jan, had lodged an FIR at the area police station on Aug 6 after she disappeared on Aug 4.

Rahima Bibi was found murdered near Riaz Masjid in Bilawal Shah Noorani goth, Sachal.

An unidentified young man was found murdered in Pak Colony on Sunday.

Police said that the body of the man, who was in his mid-20s, was found in a garbage dump near Government Elementary College in Hasrat Mohani Colony. The trussed-up body was at least two days old. The young man was slaughtered.

A note was recovered from his pocket saying: “This is the result of second marriage.” The body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.
