PSAF name Asian Games sailing squad

KARACHI, Aug 24: Pakistan Sailing Federation (PSAF) Saturday named a ten-member squad for the various sailing events of XIV Asian Games being held in Busan (South Korea) from Sept 29-Oct 14.

PSAF released the name of sailors in Enterprise, 470 class, Laser, Mistral, Optimist boy and optimist girl squad.

The national sailing team was picked after trials in best of seven race series which concluded at PAF Yacht Club and Pakistan Navy Aquatic Club recently.

Selected sailors will continue their training/sailing at national camp prior at two venues prior to their departure for Busan, it said. Team is expected to leave for Korea on Sept 20.

Squad:

Enterprise: Shehryar Arshad (helm)/Riaz Muhammad (crew), Naseem Javed (spare crew) Abdul Hameed (Standby crew).

470 class: Xerxes Avari (helm)/Kamal Aziz Khan (crew).

Laser: Cpl Tech Muhammad Yousaf.

Mistral: Cpl Tech Muhammad Tanveer.

Optimist (boy) Huzaifa Farooqi.

Optimist (girl) Andrea Yasmeen Rahman.—APP
