Troops alertness enhanced

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 23: Pakistan has upgraded the state of alertness of its armed forces along the international borders after an unprovoked Indian attack and airspace violations across the Line of Control on Thursday night.

A spokesperson for Pakistan Air Force, Air Commodore Sarfaraz, told Dawn that PAF’s readiness had been upgraded. “We are watching the things and the state of alert has been upgraded to the highest level.”

Tensions between the two countries mounted in January and de-escalated about two months back after intervention of the international community. However, military officials said, the routine incursions and violations across the LoC continued from the Indian side.

Besides, Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi told a press conference that Pakistan would take up the matter with the international community and at the United Nations.
