RAWALPINDI, Aug 23: The department of food technology in Barani University has established a Food Processing, Research and Training Unit on the university premises, which will help introduce cheaper and indigenous technology for the benefit of people involved in food processing business.

The chairman of the department, Dr Tariq Masud, announced here on Friday while acknowledging the efforts of teachers.

He said the food processing unit had started working on experimental basis.

“Bakery products, beverages and other edible items are produced by employing latest scientific methods and all the products fulfil the quality standards”, the chairman said.

He added the products of the unit were available at the Display Centres at reasonable prices.

“In near future, the unit will also launch short-term courses in food processing for private business units and people related to industrial projects”, he said.
