KARACHI, Aug 22: Dr Ruth Pfau, the federal adviser on leprosy and a pioneer member of the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre, has been nominated by the board of trustees of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation for the 2002 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service.
The president of the Philippines will give the award at a ceremony to be held in Manila on Aug 31.
The Ramon Magsaysay Award was established in honour of the third president of the Republic of the Philippines. Magsaysay’s birthday falls on Aug 31.
The award seeks to recognize the individuals and institutions in Asia who work selflessly for the welfare of people.
