ISLAMABAD, Aug 22: The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has distributed Rs2.835 million among the 114 destitute families of deceased and disabled overseas Pakistanis till June.

A statement issued here on Thursday said out of 114 cheques, 58 were distributed at the OPF head office, while the remaining 56 were delivered by the regional offices at Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and Mirpur (Azad Jammu Kashmir).

The statement said the OPF had introduced the Financial Assistance Scheme in 1980 to share and minimize the sufferings of overseas Pakistanis.

It added the financial aid was provided to families of those overseas Pakistanis, who either faced death or disability during their work abroad.
