Hindus plan to use UK river for cremation

By Our Correspondent

LONDON, Aug 22: A group of UK-based Hindus has asked the British authorities in Bradford to allow them to use a local river to carry out the last rites of the dead.

If allowed, than the Hindus and the Sikhs of Britain would be able to complete their funeral rituals in the UK. They look forward to use the river in West Yorkshire, about 200 kms north of London, for their rituals.

The cremation department of the Bradford council is now looking at a site in Apperley Bridge as a possible location where ashes may be scattered.
