RAWALPINDI, Aug 21: Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mian Mohammad Shafi on Wednesday confirmed the pre-arrest bail of five Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) activists, charged with disturbing public order and raising anti-government slogans during Kashmir rally on June 14.
The PML-N activists were Mansoor Baig, Babar Awan, Mohammad Shafiq, Kare Khan and Tanveer Akhter Sheikh. Earlier, these activists had been granted an interim pre-arrest-bail by the court.
A FIR, under Section 16 of Public Maintenance Order (MPO) and Section 188/148/149 and 353 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) had been filed by the city police station against them, after being baton charged near Fawara Chowk, Raja Baazar.
In the bail application, the defence counsel, Khalid Ahmad Bhatti and Nadeem Ahmad Bhatti blamed the government for falsely implicating them because they did not belong to a pro-government party.
Civil Judge Azfar Sultan Syed rejected the bail application of an accused, who had allegedly submitted fake documents with a bail application in another court.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmad issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against a drug trafficker, who did not appear in the court after securing bail.
The accused Awal Sher, a resident of Peshawar had been arrested by Civil Line police on possession of charas.
