KARACHI, Aug 21: Five ships carrying containers, crude oil and high speed diesel are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active as all the new arrivals were toed to the vacant berths soon after their calling from the outer anchorage. They are: Wan Hai-305, Sima Kija, APL Cairo, MOL Sincerity and Lanka Mahapola, which will unload and load containers.

Sailing on the other hand was relatively modest as only three ships, Hyundai Stride, Pretty River and Hua Shan departed while Lanka Mahapola, APL Cairo, Sima Kija and Iran Sadr are due to sail out on Thursday.

Berth occupancy at the wharves remained slow for the second day, falling to 33 and 46 per cent both at the oil piers and dry wharves respectively.

A total tonnage of 56,838 tons comprising 14,715 tons of export cargo including 729 tons of wheat and 42,123 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Johar, with crude oil, Warbah, with high speed diesel, MCC Hijaz, with chemicals, Dagmar and Khalid Ibn Al-Walid, with containers.
