KARACHI, Aug 21: The government will allocate 3,000 acres more land for Nooriabad industrial estate for setting up industrial units.
This was stated by governor Sindh, Mohammadmian Soomro at the inauguration of gas supply to the Nooriabad Industrial area on Wednesday.
He urged the local and foreign investors to set up their units in Nooriabad which is now fully developed with all necessary facilities.
The governor said that the government is also preparing a study to connect Nooriabad industrial estate with the Port Qasim.
He assured every assistance to local and foreign investors for setting up units in Nooriabad.
He said the government had already allocated funds for Nooriabad water supply projects, and expressed the hope that the industrial estate would soon get proper water supply.
Acting Managing Director, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Mohammad Inamus Samad assured the industrialists of un- interrupted supply of gas and quality service at all times.
He said the Nooriabad gas project, which has completed in time, involved 23 km long transmission spur pipeline and a distribution network of 10.2 km, costing Rs256 million.
SSGC is currently engaged in providing un-interrupted gas supply to more than 1.6 million consumers all over Sindh and Balochistan.
In Sindh, he said the company is supplying gas to 91 cities and towns and 474 villages and 20 towns and 74 villages in Balochistan.
SSGC will lay 130 km long gas pipeline in Karachi in the current year and will provide 35,700 new connections, he said adding in the rest of the Sindh and Balochistan, the company is planning to lay 165 km long pipeline network and connect 15,000 new consumers.
Initially the company will supply gas to 13 industries for power generation and more than 15 more industrial units will be supplied gas in the next three to five years.
In the current around 3mmcfd of gas will be provided from Zamzama and Sui fields which will be extended to 10mmcfd from 2003.
