No candidate turned up on first day

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: No candidate came up on the first day of filing of nomination papers for election 2002 here on Monday.

Two additional and sessions judges, Sanaullah Malik and Chaudhry Muhammad Younis, who were appointed as returning officers, assumed the charge of their new assignments on Monday.

Mr Younis and Mr Sanaullah are the returning officers of constituencies NA-48 and 49 respectively.

Some 50 nomination papers, both in Urdu and English, have been provided to each returning officer. The security fee for getting one application form is Rs4,000.

According to the election schedule, last date of submitting nomination papers is August 24.
