FST reinstates bank employee

By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: The Federal Services Tribunal (FST) on Monday reinstated a National Bank employee whose services had been terminated on charges of criminal negligence.

Nisar Mohammad, an employee of National Bank of Pakistan Mansehra, was accused of stealing 5,200 prize bonds of Rs1,000 denomination last year. One of the stolen bonds won a prize of Rs115,000 which the same branch had to pay as per the rules.

The counsel for appellant argued before the Tribunal comprising chairman Justice Aman Ullah Abbassi (retired) and Abdul Razzaq that the bank had terminated the services of Mr Nisar without holding a proper inquiry into the allegations. He further contended that senior head cashier of the same branch was supposed to take care of the prize bonds, which were stolen, as claimed by the bank itself, after the working hours.
