SARGODHA, Aug 18: Recent rains have filled to capacity the distributories of Lower Jhelum Canal, Ludianwala and Mitha Luk Minors, and the adjacent residential colonies face inundation because of weak flood bunds and broken banks of these waterways.

In a statement, residents of these localities alleged that the Irrigation Department has not been repairing protection bunds in the area since long. During desiltation campaign, the authorities concerned paid little attention towards repairing banks of various canals.

They said that the irrigation officials were paying no heed to their complaints.
