KARACHI, Aug 18: The Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Mirshouq Ali Shah has said that the Bank can reschedule its loan if the Sindh government expedites work on the National Drainage Programme (NDP).

He was talking to Sindh Minister for Finance, Planning and Development, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh at a meeting here on Sunday, heading a five-member mission. Shah assured the minister of all possible help from the mission.

The mission expressed satisfaction over the pace of development work under ADB projects.

Earlier, the minister said that the government was endeavouring to complete all development schemes in the province in the stipulated time.

Dr Shaikh told the mission that a working group consisting of the ADB and Sindh government officials has been created to finalize the Sindh Rural Development Project with mutual consultation as soon as possible.

The Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Shehzado Shaikh and provincial secretaries of education, health, communication, construction, irrigation and forests also attended the meeting.

The provincial secretaries informed the mission about ongoing ADB funded projects under their departments.—APP
