Sidratul lifts crown


PESHAWAR, Aug 17: Sidratul Muntaha beat Sidra Mehmood in just 35 minutes by 3-1 to clinch the Independence Day squash tournament played at the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex Saturday.

Sidratul won the first two games 13-5 and 13-8 in just 18 minutes. Sidra rallied back in the third game to win the set 12-15.

It was at 11-11 when Sidratul made three unforced errors to gave Sidra the set.

In the fourth set Sidratul got her momentum back and won the game 15-10 to lift the title. This was her second consecutive final after reaching in the final of the first women squash championship in the Marry Stopes Society Sports Festival.

Fatima Israr beat Farhat Maqsood to clinch the third place in the tournament.

The winners was awarded a squash racket of Rs. 2000/- with six squash balls and trophy while the runners-up got a squash racket of Rs.1400/- with six squash balls and trophy.—APP
