One dies in Multan bomb explosion

MULTAN, Aug 16: An explosion killed one man and wounded another while they were reportedly assembling a bomb at a Madresah, police said on Friday. Police were dispatched to the Sahiwal district to investigate the blast.

“According to reports received so far, the two men were apparently manufacturing a bomb,” a police official in Punjab told Reuters. He identified the dead man as Jamil and the injured man as Shabbir Alam.

Villagers said this Madressah had been built by the brother of a man who had fought in Afghanistan and commanded a banned militant group Jaish-i-Mohammad.—Reuters
