QUETTA, Aug 16: Director-General of Balochistan agriculture department, Saadat Hussain Naqvi and his driver were shot and injured on Friday by unknown armed men on Friday.

Hospital sources said Naqvi received three bullets and driver Vedan Gul sustained one bullet wound. Both have been admitted to civil hospital and doctors said their condition was stable.

Mr Naqvi was coming out of his office situated on Sariab Road for going home in the official vehicle. As the vehicle reached the gate of the office, masked men opened fire on him with automatic weapons and both were hit by bullets.

The injured driver drove the vehicle to the civil hospital where he fell unconscious.

The assailants escaped on a motorcycle. The cause of firing could not be ascertained. The police termed it a terrorist attack.

This was the second incident in a week. Last Friday unknown masked man attacked the Director-General of National Database and Registration Authority, Quetta, Brig Bartar Hussain Naqvi.
