KARACHI, Aug 16: Five ships including a car carrier, Maersk Cloud carrying 119 units are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was moderately active where five ships, Jamila, Kota Teraju, Leyi to unload and unload containers and general cargo, Ievoli Shine to offload chemicals, and L.M.Z Evina to offload crude oil were berthed after the sailing of as many.

The ships, which departed included Al-Mirqab, MSC Lucy, Kota Rukun, Lyra and Stolt Alliance, while Kota Salam, Azur, Ievoli Shine, Kota Teraju, Jamila and Highland Light are due to sail out on Saturday.

Berthing occupancy was maintained at 100 per cent on the oil piers thanks to steady calling of tankers, while on the dry wharves it rose to 54 per cent.

A total tonnage of 61,470 tons comprising 17,408 tons of export cargo including 3,513 tons of wheat and 44,042 tons of import cargo was handled.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Shirvan, with crude oil, Bunga Masempat, Iwato and Lanka Mahapola, with containers and Maersk Cloud, with 119 cars.
