MIRPURKHAS, Aug 15: A group of growers have alleged that the executive engineer, Jamrao Division, the SDO and other officials are providing more water to office-bearers of the farmers organization of Belaro Shakh.
Talking to newsmen at the press club here on Thursday, Mohammad Khan Leghari, Rasool Bux Leghari, Mevo Khaskheli and Dhani Bux Khaskheli said due to the closure of Belaro Shakh during their turn of water, their lands had rendered barren and standing crops, including sugarcane, chili, cotton and vegetables, had been damaged.
They regretted that influential political leaders were also getting excessive share of water from their minors.
They pledged to launch a protest movement against irrigation officers if their grievances were not resolved within a week.
They also demanded of the Sindh governor and the secretary for irrigation to take notice of the matter.
DIED: A narcotic addict, Mohammad Usman, 50, died when a motorcycle hit him on the Hyderabad Road on Wednesday.
