By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL, Aug 15: Superintendent of Police, Chitral, has ordered the demotion of two police officers and stopped the increments of many others for negligence which led to the murder of a Spanish national in the Bumburate valley, the other week.

Mir Azam ,the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ayun, was demoted to assistant sub-inspector (ASI), and Akhtar Hussain and Mohammad Ismail, both ASIs, were demoted to head constable.

The annual increment of many other official was stopped for two years. It may be mentioned here that the home department of the province had ordered the local police last month to oust the Spanish from the valley living there for the last 12 years, but at the time he was out of the district.

He returned on July 27, and was murdered after five days. The SHO of Ayun police station and the police post Bumburate were charged with negligence of duty.
