HYDERABAD, Aug 15: All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions (APFTU) president Abdul Latif Nizamani has urged the government to direct its functionaries and officials to ensure security measures to protect the lives of people working in different industrial enterprises.
He was speaking at a two-day seminar on “professional hazards and measures to check them”, jointly organized by the APFTU and the Japan International Labour Organization at the labour hall here on Thursday,
Nizamani, who is also the president of Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union, said 96 Wapda employees had died during one year while working on electrical installations and added that according to the world statistics one worker died during the performance of his duties every three minutes.
