KARACHI: 18 cars, 28 bikes taken away in two days

KARACHI, Aug 15: At least 46 vehicles — 18 cars and 28 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen at different parts of the city during the last 48 hours, police said.

Eight cars were hijacked and ten were stolen, and eight motorcycles were hijacked and 20 were stolen in different parts of the city during the last two days.

Police claimed the recovery of nine cars and seven motorcycles in different parts of the city during this period.

ACCIDENTS: Three persons died in separate traffic accidents in the city during the last 48 hours.

A boy died in a hit-and-run accident in Shireen Jinnah Colony on Thursday morning.

Police said Najeebullah, 9, was knocked down by a speeding vehicle.

The victim was rushed to the Jinnah Hospital, where he was found dead.

A speeding water tanker killed two motorcyclists near Cattle Colony on Wednesday.

Police said the water tanker (LSB-5549) knocked down two persons riding on a motorcycle (KCA-1196) near Cattle Colony, killing the two on the spot.

The two were identified as Sultan, 24, and Mohammad Shahid, 30. Their bodies were taken to the JPMC for postmortem examination.

Police claimed having arrested the driver, Zulfiqar, and impounding the vehicle.

DROWNING: Two young men drowned when their boat carrying 20 persons capsized off the Gadani beach on Wednesday.

Edhi sources said the two, identified as Abdul Manan, 16, and his friend Saghir, 18, drowned and 18 others were rescued by the divers when their boat capsized near the beach.

Their bodies were fished out by the divers and taken to the Civil Hospital for autopsy.

Edhi sources said that both victims lived in Orangi. A young boy, identified as Fahim, 14, drowned off the Clifton beach on Wednesday.

The victim was swimming in the sea when strong currents swept him away.

Edhi sources said another boy was rescued by the divers at the same spot.
