KARACHI: New rules for building plan approved

KARACHI, Aug 13: The chief controller of buildings, Karachi Building Control Authority, A.S. Nasir, has issued new directives to all the circles with reference to approval of building plans.

Days limit has been fixed for taking action on each plan, as a result no file could be kept in a section for days together.

As per the existing regulations, the signatures of architect and structural engineer would be essential for approval of plans for houses on plots of 400 square yards or more.

For buildings of ground-plus-four, or those with 50 feet height or more, residential certificate of structural engineer will be necessary.

Deputy-controller of buildings could approve plan in 25 days in respect of plots up to 200sq yards. The controller could approve plan for buildings on plots up to 600sq yards within 30 days and within 40 days by the chief controller for plans in respect of plots of 600sq yards and above.

Under the new instructions, 40 days limit has been fixed for issuance of completion certificate in respect of residential plots and that would be granted with the approval of the chief controller.

As regards the permission for commercial and residential plans in respect of ground-plus-three on plots of 200sq yards, 29 days limit has been fixed.

The objections on plans submitted could be issued once within 15 days.—APP
