KARACHI, Aug 12: An anti-terrorism court put off on Monday the hearing of a murder case against four workers of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi as the accused were not produced in the court.
Judge Khan Pervaiz Chang of the ATC-4 fixed 15th for the next hearing after the jail authorities informed the court that the accused could not be brought to the court as one of them was ill.
The four workers — Akram Lahori, Ata Ullah, Mohammed Azam and Malik Tassaduq — will be formally arraigned in the case on the next date of hearing.
The case pertained to the murder of Mohammed Nazeer on April 7 in the Rizvia Society police limits.
The same court also fixed 15th for the hearing of another murder case against accused Akram Lahori and Ata Ullah.
The case against the two pertained to the murder of Abu Zaheer alias Isfahan Haider on April 9 in the limits of North Nazimabad police.
CONVICTED: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Ahmed Nawaz Shaikh, sentenced two men to suffer rigorous imprisonment for five years each for trying to commit a house robbery.
Mohammed Amir and Jawaid, prosecuted for barging into the house of Khushi Mohammed for committing robbery, were convicted after they confessed to the offence in the court.
The court also fined them Rs5,000 each and said the defaulter on the payment of the fine would have to undergo an additional six-month term.
NBWS: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Ghulam Qadir Leghari, issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of a sub-inspector, who was not appearing before the court despite repeated notices.
The judge also ordered the police authorities to deduct Rs5,000 from the salary of SI Ghulam Mustafa, who was required by the court for his evidence in a case against accused Mazhar.
The case, pertaining to robbery and attack on police party, was registered against the accused by the Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police in 1999.
The judge ordered the police authorities to arrest the SI and produce him before the court on 27th.
