ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: The Election Commission on Friday allowed the Central Board of Revenue to carry out transfers of its employees after the department assured that the transfers would not impact the holding of fair elections.

The EC at its meeting considered the request for the proposed transfers/postings of the CBR employees. The member (Direct Taxes) appeared before the commission and explained the circumstances under which transfers/postings were imperative in the exigencies of service and public interest.

An EC announcement said the CBR official had assured that officials would not, directly or indirectly, impact the election process. If any such instance was reported about the conduct of an official adversely impacting the election process, the CBR would take swift and stern action against the concerned official, it added.
