KARACHI, Aug 9: Nine ships carrying DAP fertilizer, containers and to load wheat and molasses are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves slow as only two ships, PONL Malandi and Sponsalis to offload and load containers and to unload gas oil were berthed after the departure of five.
The ships, which departed included Jamila, Swat, PONL Malandi, Bunga Mastiga, and Al-Ihsaa, while Zografia, Sponsalis, Sinar Bangka and Mercs Sajinda are due to sail out on Saturday.
Owing to delayed arrivals of foreign flag ships, the berth occupancy fell to 33 and 39 per cent at the oil piers and dry wharves respectively.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest where a total tonnage of 51,869 tons comprising 7,325 tons of export cargo and 44,544 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Saturday: Malakand, with general cargo, Sima Kija, Kota Indah, Hyundai Viadivostock and Trade Harvest, with containers, Isola Scaqlatta, to load molasses, Ocean Tavia, with steel cargo, Hua Shan to load 14,600 tons of wheat, Azur, with DAP fertilizer.
