PESHAWAR, Aug 9: NWFP has envisaged a plan to raise its receipts through user charges by over 70 per cent during the next four financial years, according to official sources.

The provincial government has planned to raise a total of Rs1,457.4 million through user charges during the current financial year, increasing the cumulative proceeds gradually by every passing year during the next four financial years.

The quantum of user charges would be raised from Rs1,457.4 million in the financial year 2002-03 to Rs1,664.9 million in 2003-04, Rs1,898.1 million in 2204-05 and taking it up to Rs2,052 million in the fiscal 2005-06.

During the four-year period the level of user charges would be enhanced by over 70 per cent in total raising it from Rs1,457 million in 2002-03 to Rs2,052 million in 2005-06.

Cumulative increase would be ensured by raising the level of proceeds through all heads of user charges forming parts of the community services, social services and economic services.

However, major contribution would be raised by enhancing the level of receipts from economic and community services.

Receipts through community services would expectedly stand at Rs482 million during the current financial year and would go up to Rs585 million in the financial year 2003-04. Whereas, recording further increase it is expected to go up to Rs692 million in 2004-05 and further to Rs782 million in 2005-06.

Similarly, as per provincial government’s estimates receipts through social services would be around Rs313 million in 2002-03, Rs343 million in 2003-04, Rs393 million in 2004-05 and Rs428 million in 2005-06.

If done so the overall increase under receipts from social services would be over 73 per cent in the financial year 2005-06 in comparison with the current fiscal.

Proceeds through economic services have been evaluated to be around Rs662 million in 2002-03 going up to Rs842 million in 2005-06, recording an increase by over 78 per cent in four years.
