Water rotation begins in Sanghar

Published August 9, 2002

SANGHAR, Aug 8: The Irrigation Department has started rotation programme due to the low flow of water in the Nara Canal.

The flow of water at the Jamrao Canal has declined.

The Shahu Wah, and the Dilor Shakh of the Jhol irrigation sub-division have been lying closed since a week.

At least two dozen waterways, originating from these two canals, are lying absolutely dry.

Irrigation officials told this correspondent that after a week the Dim Wah of the Khadro irrigation sub-division would be closed.

The farmers have strongly reacted to the closure of the canals without any prior notice.

They have demanded that they must be informed in advance about the closure of the canals so that they could take the necessary precautions.
