Jewish writers deplore Israeli atrocities

By Our Correspondent

LONDON, Aug 8: Concern is growing among Jews living in Europe over the Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.

In a show of support to Palestinians, about 45 prominent Jews from the United Kingdom have publicly renounced their right to Israeli citizenship because of the Israeli government’s policies towards Palestinians.

In an open letter to a national newspaper on Thursday, the group of 45 _ all Jewish-raised poets, writers, film producers, academics and businessmen _ said, “It is morally wrong that they are bestowed citizenship rights while others are terrorized or forced to flee their homeland”.

Led by writer and poet Michael Rosen, the signatories say they were all born and raised outside Israel but will only ever consider living there if the rights of the Palestinians are respected.
