Landlords asked to submit details about Afghan tenants

ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: All the landlords in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, who have leased out their commercial or residential units to the Afghan refugees, have been asked to immediately submit details of their tenants to the police stations concerned.

A circular issued by the Chief Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees, Islamabad, has asked the landlords to submit these details not later than August 15.

In addition to the police station, these details could also be submitted to the Chief Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees, Directorate of Enforcement CDA, DCO Office Rawalpindi or SP Headquarters Rawalpindi.

When contacted, an official said these details were being gathered to facilitate the Afghan refugees for their early return to their homeland.

A policy is yet to be formulated to deal with cases where the Afghan refugees have purchased properties in their names in different parts of the country.

A large number of Afghan Refugees are known to have purchased property in their names with the help of forged documents of permanent residence in a number of smaller and big towns all over the country.—APP
