Telephone exchange rectifier burnt

Published August 8, 2002

SAHIWAL, Aug 7: Farid Town exchange rectifier comprising 10,000 lines and worth Rs1 million has burnt due to fluctuation in power supply.

This was alleged by NMC divisional engineer Pervez Iqbal while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday.

He blamed that during the last 72 hours fluctuation had not only damaged the exchange rectifier but also electronic items in houses of Scheme No 3.

Casting away the allegation, a Mepco spokesman said the exchange rectifier had burnt due to the negligence of exchange in-charge.

He said there was no truth in the voltage fluctuation as the Wapda had recently installed four new transformers in the area.

TWO BIKES SNATCHED: Robbers on Wednesday snatched two motorcycles from different areas.
