By Our Correspondent

KOHAT, Aug 7: A former provincial minister and government contractor was arrested by the NAB on Monday on the charge of misappropriating funds allocated for the construction of schools and purchase of furniture.

The SSP, Abid Ali, summoned former minister Malik Hidayatullah Khan Afridi to his office and informed him about his arrest ordered by the NAB.

He was remanded to police custody for 14 days. Three senior officials of the Education Department, including a director, were also among those arrested.

The accused had been charged with violating government contract rules by not completing the work in the stipulated time and transferring the public funds into their personal bank accounts.
