Brigadier Tafazzul passes away


KARACHI, Aug 6: Brigadier Tafazzul Hussain Siddiqui, a former director of the Inter-Service Public Relations, died of heart failure early Tuesday. He was 77.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

His Namaz-i-Janaza was offered at the Sultan Mosque, Khayaban-i-Hafiz. He was buried at the Gizri graveyard.

Brig Siddiqui was born on Dec 31, 1925, at Lucknow. He did his MA in International Relations in 1945, migrated to Pakistan in 1948, and joined daily Pakistan Times. In 1953, he joined armed services and was commissioned in the army.

Having worked as Public Relations Officer in Navy for 10 years, he was promoted to the rank of brigadier and served as the ISPR director from 1977 to 1985 when he retired. He then associated himself with the Pakistan Press International as vice-chairman.

Quran Khwani will be held on Thursday after Asr at 23/1, 19th Street, Phase-V off Khayaban-i-Tanzeem, DHA, Karachi.

CONDOLENCES: Federal Minister for Information and Media Development Nisar A. Memon has expressed his deep condolence on the sad demise of Brig Siddiqui.

Federal Information Secretary Syed Anwar Mehmood and PIO Mohammad Akram Shaheedi have also expressed their deep grief and sorrow on the sad demise of Brig Siddiqui. —PPI/APP
