RAWALPINDI, Aug 6: An employee of Central Ordnance Depot (COD) was robbed of Rs860,000 at gunpoint on Tuesday, police said.

The COD employee, Wali Mohammad, who had stepped out of the National Bank Branch, Saddar, after drawing the cash, was intercepted by two persons in a car, who snatched the bag containing Rs8.6 million from him, at gunpoint and fled.

The robbers also fired bullets in the air, apparently to frighten the people around, the police said.

The police said Wali Mohammad, a clerk at the COD came out of the National Bank branch after drawing the cash and was heading towards another bank to deposit it, when two persons driving in a car, No IDL-4261 intercepted him and held him at gunpoint.

The robbers snatched the cash bag from him and escaped in the car.
