Warrants issued against four customs men

By Our Correspondent

GILGIT, Aug 6: District and Sessions Judge Hajat Aman has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against four customs officials for not appearing be-fore the court for two years in a case.

The accused had bullied and intimidated a trader in 2000 at Sost checkpoint.

Sources said Inspector Siddiqui, Superintendent Ishaque Kiyani, Deputy Superintendent Nasar Nadeem and Sepoy Liaquat allegedly attacked Tahir Jan, resident of Heramoush, when he complained that his briefcase bearing $10,000 was missing from the sealed consignment at the checkpoint.

The complainant approached the court but after one hearing the accused never turned up.

The police, when contacted, said they had not arrested any of the accused.
