LARKANA, Aug 5: The out patients departments of the Chandka Medical College Hospital wore a deserted look here on Monday as the doctors observed a strike against the police failure to arrest those who had injured Prof Zaffar Pirzado, vice principal of the CMC.
The patients coming from different parts of the district to the OPDs of surgery, medicine, paediatrics, orthopaedics, gynaecology etc returned unattended as there was no doctor available in the hospital.
The protesting doctors, under the flags of the Pakistan Medical Association and the Chandka Teachers Association (CTA), held a protest meeting in the hospital and later took out a procession.
They marched on the main roads of city and staged a demonstration outside the local press club.
Speaking at the rally, Dr Ikram Tunio, president, PMA, Larkana, Dr Malik Hussain Jalbani, president, CTA, and others criticized the police for failing to arrest the accused despite the lapse of a week.
HSC-II results: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Larkana, on Monday announced the results of the HSC-II annual examination in which girls students outclassed the boys.
Out of the 2,674 candidates, only 815 were declared successful and only one candidate secured grade A-1 while 21 were placed in grade B and 320 in grade C.
The pass percentage of the boys was 29.27 per cent while that of girls 60.71 per cent and the combined pass percentage stood at 30.25 per cent.
Afaque Ahmed Kalhoro of Government Pilot Higher Secondary School Larkana; Yasir Mushtaque Khokhar of Cadet College, Larkana; and Kashif Hussain of Sindh Science College, Larkana; secured the first three positions among the boys.
Kanwal Maher of Government Girls College, Shikarpur; Rabia Parven of Government Girls College, Shahdadkot; and Fiza Nasir Osto of Government Girls College, Shikarpur; obtained the first three positions among the girls.
BATON-CHARGE: The police baton-charged a protest rally and arrested five villagers, including a councillor, in Naudero on Monday when they were protesting against the arrest of a villager and insult of a councillor by the police.
Talib Hussain Jarwar, a councillor of Pir Bakhsh Bhutto union council, went to the Naudero police station and asked its SHO to release the villager, Moula Bakhsh Jarwar, as no case was registered against him.
The SHO got enraged and insulted the councillor.
Later the villagers took out a procession and observed a token hunger strike outside the Naudero press club.
The police baton-charged the protestors and arrested five of them, Talib Hussain, Comrade Mohammed Panah Jarwar, Ishaq, Munawwar and Hajan Jarwar.
The police have registered a case against 31 protesters.
POLLING STAFF LIST: The process of preparation of the list of polling personnel has been delayed in Larkana district after the office of the local election commission received revised instructions from its headquarters.
