HYDERABAD, Aug 5: The incumbent president of the Awami Tehrik, Rasool Bux Palijo, has been re-elected as its president at the party’s central elections at the Awami House, Prince Town, Qasimabad, on Sunday.
A large number of councillors from throughout Sindh exercised their right of franchise.
Dada Qadir Ranto, Dr Aziz Talpur, Syed Alam Shah, Rasool Bux Brohi, Zorawar Jarwar, Peeral Bhano, and Noor Nabi Rahujo were elected senior vice president, general secretary, deputy general secretary, finance secretary, office secretary, and party spokesman respectively.
Addressing the newly-elected body and party councillors, Mr Palijo said that the 53-year history of Pakistan was replete with excesses against the Sindhi and other smaller nations, and added that through a peaceful democratic struggle the party would have to launch a consistent struggle against the looting and plundering of provincial resources, robbing the waters of Sindh, and the influx of outsiders.
He said the party must fight for the Pakistan of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, who was a champion of democracy and a forceful advocate of equal national rights.
SU TRANSPORT BODY: A meeting of the Transport Committee of the University of Sindh, held on Monday, reviewed the arrangements for students’ point buses from Aug 16 when the university reopens.
The meeting, which was presided over by its convener, Dr Qazi Khadim Hussain, finalized the routes for the point buses and decided that they would ply on the same routes as already fixed for Hyderabad, Latifabad, Qasimabad, and Kotri areas to pick and drop students.
The meeting recommended ways for further improving the point buses’ service and also recommended that they must display the destination on the front of the buses.
It also finalized the schedule of the morning as well as evening classes.
