By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4: The government may impose a regulatory duty on the import of raw sugar in view of highly depressed international prices.

Well placed sources told Dawn that the decision to this effect was expected in the Economic Coordination Committee meeting scheduled for Monday.

The commerce ministry has proposed three different types of taxes to be imposed at import stage to help the sugar industry cope with the world fluctuating prices.
