KARACHI, Aug 4: A man killed his wife and daughter in Shershah on Sunday.
The police said that Liaquat Ali killed his wife Zareen, 42, and daughter Rubina, 25, after they refused a marriage proposal from the suspect’s nephew.
The tortured bodies of both were found on Mohammadi Road, Street No 7. They were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for the postmortem examination, the police said.
The hospital sources said that both the victims were beaten to death by sticks. For several hours the bodies in veil had been lying on the street until someone informed the police. The police shifted the bodies to the hospital where Liaquat Ali came and identified them. After thorough interrogation by the police, he confessed to having committed the crime and gave details.
The suspect was also involved in a robbery committed in limits of the New Town police station in 1995. He was subsequently arrested and sent to jail. He was released from jail after completing his term, the police said.
CARJACKINGS: At least 15 vehicles- eight cars and seven motorcycles- were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city on Sunday, the police said.
One car was taken away at gunpoint and seven were stolen. Bandits took away two motorcycles and five were stolen. The police claimed recovery of one car and five motorcycles.
ARRESTED: The police arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the killing of a doctor in New Karachi.
They were also wanted for over a dozen robberies in the New Karachi area. The police said the two suspects, identified as Imran alias Kala and Arif, were picked up from New Karachi. They confessed to killing Dr Yousaf Ghouri in sector 5-D, New Karachi.
The police said that their four accomplices Mullah Wahid, Arshad alias Langra, Raza Ali and Asif were still absconding and raids were being made for their arrest.
