CJP urged to take suo moto action against Dadu police

By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: Relatives of the victims, killed or injured in an incident in Dadu district, Sindh, on February 26, have urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu action against the police who, they alleged, pressurized them to reach a compromise with the rival party.

A joint letter written by the relatives of the deceased and wounded persons said a police constable, Noor Parwani, had a brawl with his brother, M Parwani, over a property issue. The constable tried to kill his brother with his official gun, but the latter managed to escape. He chased his brother in the densely populated area and kept on firing at him as a result of which seven people, including women and children, fell victim to the indiscriminate fire were killed and several others injured.

The deranged police man later committed suicide.

The police had registered a case against the constable and his brother for bringing their feud in the open and causing loss of human lives. The matter was being duly adjudicated upon until July when the relatives of the victims were approached by the police who forced them to sign a compromise deed with the accused, the relatives claimed.

They alleged that the Sindh administration was also “trying to influence the judicial procedure”.
